Hudson County, At Home and At War

Coming Soon- Phase One of the Hudson County At Home and At War Digital Archive

The Friends of the Secaucus Public Library need your help to save and digitize our local history!

We are looking for the following items for our "Hudson County: At Home and at War" project:

  • Photos of Hudson County street scenes, parks or landmarks taken between 1940 and 1975.

  • Photos of local residents at social gatherings during those years (ie. club meetings, graduations, family parties, BBQs, picnics, parades, galas, etc.)

  • Photos of residents who were members of the armed services or those who served their country in other ways during WWII, the Korean War or the Vietnam War.

  • Letters exchanged between those serving in the military and their family and friends.

  • Flyers, posters or any other publications put out by local or state government agencies or nonprofit organizations.

  • Other printed or written documents that help tell the story of life in Hudson County during those years.

All photos and documents will be returned once they are scanned. For more information or to help with this project by sharing photos or documents, please call or email Library Director Jenifer May at 201-330-2083 or may@secaucus.bccls.org.

Slideshow from Korean War Remembrance Event

This slideshow was compiled with the help of the Secaucus VFW to highlight local veterans who are or were active members of the organization. If you or someone you know served during the years 1950-1953 and lived in Hudson County before, during or after the war, we would be honored to add the names or photos of more Hudson County based veterans to this slideshow.  Contact Jenifer May using the email address or phone number listed above for more information.
